Writers in Oxford has a public Facebook page at www.facebook.com/writersinoxford and a closed Facebook group for members of WiO at www.facebook.com/groups/WritersinOxford
where members can interact, keep up with WiO events and announcements, and share news, opinion, and information about other literary events. Members of Writers in Oxford are encouraged to join this group. Just click the blue ‘f’ icon at the top left of this page. That will take you to the Writers in Oxford facebook group, where you can click the ‘Join’ button. If you are a current member of WiO, your request will then be approved by one of the admins, normally within 24 hours.
If you’re new to Facebook, you will need to sign up for a free Facebook account first. You can create a personal account and then, if you like, create an author page. It’s a good idea to have a separate page for promotion of your writing and a personal page for any posts you may write for just friends and/or family to see. It is also important to be aware of privacy and security if you decide to write posts as well as just observe: so remember to choose whether you want your post to be displayed to Public or Friends or Family (You can choose the setting with each individual post). In public posts, don’t give out personal information such as year of birth, and it’s best not to announce on any public forum that you’re off on holiday and your house will be empty!
